HOTEL SØMA NUUK
About Hotel SØMA Aasiaat
HOTEL SØMA, Aasiaat is a 3-star hotel with conference facilities. The hotel has 50 rooms and 2 hotel apartments.
HOTEL SØMA, Aasiaat is the city's gathering place for locals, tourists and passengers travelling through by boat and plane.
That's why we often have a lot of guests, and we take pride in ensuring that everyone has a good experience at the hotel.
HOTEL SØMA runs the "Seamen's Home | Cafeteria & Social", which is the local diaconal and maritime welfare work. This work is led by seafarer missionary Karsten Hald Jakobsen together with 1-2 volunteers.
HOTEL SØMA in Aasiaat and Ilulissat is managed by Lisbeth and Søren Hansen, where Lisbeth is employed as hotel manager in Aasiaat and Søren is Regional Director for both hotels.
Missional and diaconal activities
Throughout the year, Hotel SØMA carries out local welfare work - a responsibility primarily carried out by the volunteers. Regular weekly activities include the following:
Young Café, where the city's young people, especially from high school, are invited to cosy up, play games, sing and worship at the hotel.
A visit to the local prison - a local prison where every Thursday you can drop by for coffee and cake and a couple of hours for conversation, games and devotions.
Visit the harbour and calling ships with coffee and fresh newspapers under your arm.
In addition, during the summer months we organise a weekly children's day for all the children in town, where we play, make a bonfire and hold a short devotional. Every year at Christmas, we also open the doors to Christmas Eve at the Seamen's Home - an offer many people take advantage of.
